• A: Aufhängung (German), suspension for a microphone or capsule
• AC 20: Aufhängung mit CINELA 20 mm, microphone suspension with CINELA isolators
• AK: Adapter-Kabel (German), adapter cable

B

• B: Besprechungsschutz (German), pop screen
• BA: Mounting adapter for brass instruments
• BF: Bodenfuß (German), heavy base for floor stand

C  

• CCM: Compact Condenser Microphone = non-modular microphone, normally with Lemo output
• CMC: Condenser Microphone, Colette = microphone amplifier for Colette capsule
• CMD: Condenser microphone, Digital = digital microphone amplifier
• CMH: Condenser Microphone, Hand = handheld microphone
• CMIT: Condenser Microphone, Interference Tube = shotgun microphone
• Colette: Famous modular system introduced in 1974 and still popular today. It was named for the favorite niece of a French sales partner who, ca. 1951, arranged for French broadcasting to try Schoeps microphones.
• CUT: low-cut filter for Colette microphones

E

• E: Elektronik des Mikrofonverstärkers(German), circuitry of the microphone amplifier
  = a version of table-based microphones in which the amplifier is built in, with no separate CMC amplifier required; a normal microphone cable is connected at the output.

G

• G: Gelenk (German), swivel joint
• GVC: Gelenk Verstellbar, Colette (German), adjustable swivel joint for Colette microphones

H

• H: hanging adapter

K

• K: Kabel (German), cable
• KC: Kabel Colette (German), Colette active cable (connects an MK capsule to a CMC or CMD amplifier)
• KD: Kapseldose (German), container for a capsule
• KMIT: Kapsel for microphone with interference tube =  Shotgun capsule
• KS: Kabel, Stereo (German), stereo cable (normally with XLR-5 connectors)

M

• M: Mikrofonschiene (German): mounting bar (normally for two microphones)
• MAB: Mikrofonschiene für AB-Stereo (German): mounting bar for a spaced pair of microphones
• MiniCMIT: Mini Condenser Microphone, Interference Tube = compact shotgun microphone
• Mini-DA42: Mini-Digital/Analog-Converter for AES42 signals, e.g. from SuperCMIT or a microphone with CMD 42 amplifier
• MK: Mikrofon-Kapsel (German), microphone capsule
• MKH: Mikrofon-Kabel-Hülse (German) = microphone cable sleeve
• MSTC: Microphone, Stereo, Colette = ORTF stereo microphone amplifier, normally for MK 4 Colette capsules

P

• PAD: pad for Colette microphone; reduces the amplifier’s sensitivity to prevent overload at extremely high sound pressure levels
• PSD: Power Supply (Digital) for AES42 microphones (10-Volt phantom powering)

R

• RC: Rohr, Colette (German), stand tube for Colette microphones
• RG: Rohr Gelenk (German), swivel joint for RC tubes
• RL: Rohr, Lemo (German), stand tube with Lemo input (for CCM or CMC 1L)
• RS: Rohr + Schwanenhals(German), stand rod with gooseneck

S

• SRS: Schwanenhals + Rohr + Schwanenhals(German), stand rod with two gooseneck sections
• STC: stereo mounting bar for two CCM / CMC 1 L / KC in ORTF configuration
• STR: Stativ-Rohr (German), stand rod
• SuperCMIT: “Super” Condenser Microphone, Interference Tube = digitally enhanced shotgun microphone

• TEF: Tisch-Einbau-Flansch (German), mounting flange that can be built into a table
• TIMK: table stand with integrated MK capsule
• TM: (in-) table-mounted stands
• TR: Tisch-Rohr (German), table stand with stand rod

U

• U: “universal” microphone connector = XLR

W

• Windschutz (German), windscreen

Combining Colette amplifier and capsule designations to form the designation for a complete microphone:

• CMC 64: CMC 6 + MK 4
• CMC 62S: CMC 6 + MK 2S
• CMC 141: CMC 1 + MK 41

Note: This naming arrangement was standard for pre-1974 (e.g. CMT or CM 60 series) microphones, since one capsule generally stayed on a given amplifier; designations for the amplifier and capsule combination were normally engraved on the amplifiers. But Colette capsules are so readily interchangeable, and so many customers have more than one type for each amplifier that they own, that this method of naming is used far less often nowadays, and modular amplifiers are engraved with their own, separate type designations rather than that of any particular amplifier/capsule combination.
