Unlike most clip-on microphones, the set does not use a miniature electret capsule but a small-diaphragm condenser capsule. The MK 41 is the same capsule used in concert halls and film productions around the world. Mounted on the bell, it captures the instrument the way it sounds in the room: with body, with air. The supercardioid rejects monitor spill and bleed from other instruments. This allows more gain before feedback.
The set is based on the modular Colette system: the MK 41 is the recommendation for the stage and works just as well in the studio. Depending on the recording situation, you can also interchange it with any other Colette capsule. The amplifier and mount stay the same.
The BA 20 clamps securely to the rim of the bell without damaging the lacquer. The mechanism is easy to operate, so you can quickly move the microphone to another instrument, for example from alto to tenor saxophone between songs.
