US Pricing
We've received several questions about price increases for our products in the USA. Here are some fundamental points about Schoeps' pricing policy:
As a small, family-owned company, profit maximization isn't first among our business objectives. We calculate our prices to cover the costs of production, service, and development—all of which take place in Germany—while still offering customers a fair price. This approach means our margins are intentionally modest, and we respond promptly to any factors that significantly impact our pricing.
For example, we reduced prices in the USA by approximately 5% in January 2023 due to the strong dollar and other factors at that time. However, since then, the dollar has lost more than 10% of its value against the Euro. Additionally, importing our products into the USA was still tariff-free in 2023.
We strive to avoid price increases and work continuously to optimize costs without compromising the quality that defines SCHOEPS. However, given our narrow margins, we are currently unable to absorb the devaluation and tariffs, making a price adjustment unavoidable.
We prefer not to comment on the reasons behind these external factors, which are beyond our control. We hope this explanation will be met with understanding, and that it will demonstrate that maintaining a fair and transparent relationship with our customers and partners is truly important to us.
