Since its developers had paid such close attention to the evenness of its off-axis frequency response. The resulting natural sound quality very quickly made the CMIT 5 a marketplace "hit". Today the microphone affectionately known as "the blue one" has become the trademark of the professional location sound recordist. Its capsule element has since been used in two other related microphone types: the smaller, lighter "MiniCMIT" (2016) and the digital "SuperCMIT" (2010) with its special, selectable ultra-narrow pickup patterns that are obtained via digital signal processing.
