CM 51
The initial plan was for a partner company in Zurich to build matching amplifiers and accessories and to market the resulting sets. Then it was decided to design a better amplifier and to assemble and test everything at the company instead. The result was the CM 51/3 microphone.
The French broadcasting system tested two of these microphones in January 1952 and decided to equip all its studios with Schoeps microphones. Soon thereafter, Telefunken agreed to become SCHOEPS’ international distributor. These two successes occurred just in time to ensure that the company could continue to exist.
